New defib machine in town centre installed by young people
A group of teenagers have worked with Gravesham Life Saving Club to have a new defib machine installed in the town centre.
This will be the only defib with 24hr access for the public in the town.
Ellie Burns aged 18, the chair of GYG youth committee said, “It’s so important to have this life saving machine available for everyone to use in the town centre.
It might not seem like a big thing to many people – but it could the difference between life and death if somebody is involved in an accident or becomes ill.
Our youth committee work on many projects in the local area to try and make life better for everyone. We’ll work hard to raise funds to support the defib so it is maintained regularly.”
The defib was installed on the wall in St Geoge’s Centre between Show Zone and Coffee Republic on Thursdayu 21 March.
Attending the launch was the Mayor of Gravesham, Gravesham Life Saving Club, teenagers from GYG and members of The Grand Healthy Living Centre and St George’s Centre management team.
GYG young people will be working to raise funds the maintain the defib machine, with initial funding coming from Gravesham Life Saving Club for the installation.
